Cheri Garrett grew up in the foothills of the mountains in a small, cotton-mill town in South Carolina.
She met Jesus at a young age when a church reached out to the children of the town by picking them up in a large, old school bus that the church had painted purple and white. Cheri was one of the kids that rode that bus, changing the whole trajectory of her life because of the Jesus she saw in the people of that church, and the way they loved and supported her throughout her childhood and teen years.
Cheri married her high school sweetheart, Jim, and entered the life of a “pastor’s wife” at a young age. Their life’s journey has had many twists and turns as they followed the calling God has placed on their hearts. They’ve been married a very long time, and still, Jim is the love of her life and her very best friend. They are often heard saying to each other, There is no one I’d rather spend time with than you.
Their legacy is their three children, three children-in-love, and 15 grandchildren, which bring Cheri and Jim so much joy and laughter… God’s best blessings.
Cheri currently co-pastors Hope Church in Plain City, Ohio, along with her husband. She has a heart for encouraging and equipping women who are in the process of becoming all that God created and purposed them to be. She is a beloved speaker both in her church, and as a special speaker for women, in both the states and abroad. She has been blessed to be the speaker for women’s conferences in the countries of Columbia and Trinidad/Tobago. She has also taught tour groups in Israel. Cheri and her husband love traveling and doing mission work as a team, especially by encouraging and equipping pastors, their spouses, and church leadership, as well as helping to build up their marriages and families.
Cheri’s favorite times are with her family. She loves to work in the yard in the spring and hosting people in her home anytime. She and Jim love traveling together wherever the road, plane, or boat carries them, and hope these will continue to lead them on many other great adventures.
